Claire Brown
"My placement at Media Box completely exceeded my expectations; what struck me most about the company was its friendly and welcoming ethos – combined with its strong sense of commitment to excellence, this makes it a challenging yet surprisingly enjoyable environment.
During my time here I was given real work to do which made it very interesting because I felt like I was contributing to real projects. I had the opportunity to find out how my skills can be used in the workplace. I also had the opportunity to assist at an event launch which was exciting with so much action and energy. Actual encounters with business situations have made me a much more valuable prospect to graduate recruiters.
My time at Media Box was greatly rewarding; not only an opportunity to experience the inner workings of a company, but also an introduction to life as a trainee. I found the experience very useful; it gave me a glimpse into the workplace and helped me to better understand the industry."
Martin Rodgers
Martin undertook administrative, PR, marketing and data-basing duties during his 3 week work-experience placement. This is what he had to say about his experience at Media Box:
"My work experience at Media Box has been an eye-opener into the world of Marketing, PR and Event Management. I worked with Joanne and her team on some of the projects they were working on which was a great experience. They made me feel part of the team. I have learned a lot from Joanne and her team which I will be able to input into my decision on whether or not to take the big leap and join the world of Marketing, PR and Event Management. Having been on two previous work experience placements, Media Box has giving more experience than the previous two have, which I am exceedingly grateful for."
Lauren Bianconi, Transition Year (mini-company) Student, Loreto Convent, Letterkenny
With a huge task ahead of her in terms of devising a marketing and PR plan for her Transition Year company Fuelled by Music, Lauren decided to learn from the best and come to Media Box. Here is what she had to say about her experience with us.
"I really enjoyed my work placement at Media Box. Joanne and her team made me feel very welcome and allowed me contribute to big projects that they were working on. I also got to research, write and issue a press release to the local media on our TY mini-company project, Fuelled by Music. I felt very confident leaving Media Box having got a real insight into how a business operates and what media and marketing is all about."
Claire Petersen, Leaving Cert Vocational Program, Loreto Convent Letterkenny:
Claire undertook PR, marketing and website duties during her three-day placement. Here is what she had to say about her internship:
"I decided to do my internship with Media Box because of my interest in advertising, public relations and media in general. I worked with Joanne for only 3 days but I learned a lot in the short time span. The work has given me a greater understanding of how a media business is run. Now that I've had the experience of working with a media company I'll seriously consider working in this industry when I leave school. I'm glad that I chose to do my work placement with Media Box. It was an enjoyable and valuable experience."
Jamie McGarrigle, Transition Year Student at PCC Falcarragh:
Jamie undertook administrative, PR and research actvities during his one-week placement. Commenting on his week at Media Box Jamie says:
"I chose my work experience at Media Box because I had a great interest in media and so I wanted to see first-hand what a real working week in a media company would be like. I got a good insight into what this industry is all about and I definitely want to investigate media further. Joanne allowed me develop a press release based on some issues in our local area. She also taught me how the media works in Co. Donegal and how to get your story printed!"
Joanne Burke, PR Graduate, University of Swansea, Wales
Joanne undertook two months work experience at Media Box following her studies at Swansea University. Here is what Joanne had to say about her time at the company.
"As a new PR and Marketing graduate it was vital for me to secure some work experience in the industry. This proved a little bit more difficult than I thought until Joanne kindly offered me an internship with her company, Media Box. I was keen to work with someone of Joanne's calibre and experience; and my time in Media Box proved invaluable in both knowledge and experience. I developed my writing, presentation and research skills as well as getting the opportunity to interact with local business people and increase my contact base within the area.
I gained a good insight into the world of PR and Marketing and the way such an office works. Joanne and the staff were always available for questions and open to any ideas I brought to the table."
We are always building a panel of experts to join our team as and when the need arises, so please feel free to drop us your CV.
