This week I attend the Media Future Conference in Dublin to hear the leading voices in media from around the world.
The event organised by Mediacontact.ie, takes place in Dun Laoighaire, Dublin over two days, Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th May.
Among the highlights are a workshop on Monday with Josh Macht on “How to get results from Social Media” - best practices from the Harvard Business Review.
On Tuesday the conference proper kicks off with Will McInnes, Managing Director, Nixon McInnes on the topic ‘Culture Shock: How the Future of Business is Social’. Other speakers include Matt Locke, Founder, Storythings ‘Back in the Crowd: Storytelling in the age of spiky attention’ and Hugh Garry, Senior Producer, BBC on‘Everything is Permeable, nobody is happy’.
Focused specifically on the future of information we will hear from Raju Narisetti, Managing Editor, Wall Street Journal Digital Network ‘Journalism matters: But Experiencing that Journalism will matter even more’ and Olivia Solon, Associate Editor, Wired.com on ‘Will machines ever replace journalists?’
Then it’s a number of perspectives on the future of media with contributions from Antony Mayfield, Digital media and marketing consultant ‘Earned Attention: How to Build Digital Brand Systems that last’, Ian Wharton, Creative Partner, Zolmo ‘A mobile future’ and Dr. Mariann Hardey, Associate Director for Centre of Communication, University of Durham ‘Out of Office: The virtues of Disconnection’.
The much-anticipated interview with former Presidential candidate Sean Gallagher on the tweet that potentially cost him his seat in Áras an Úachtarain takes place late on Tuesday afternoon and it will shed some light on how Mr. Gallagher viewed the social media explosion and his subsequent electoral implosion.
